I must apologize to any regular visitors to this site. It has been well over two years since I have updated anything on here, so my mission for the next few months is to update, change and add a mountain of information, photos and possibly a video or two.
I have been very busy with moving my family, work and business to Somerset. I still have family, friends and my small workshop in Essex and travel back and forth as often as possible, so don’t panic too much if you’re in Essex or London I can still be available.
As a fully time served Carpenter and Joiner I seem to be a rare breed these days and in high command, which gives me great opportunities to work on some very interesting projects. I will add a new section to the site showing some totally non-animal related stuff that I do on a more day to day schedule.
Since moving to the Cider and cheese country getting used to the laid back way of life has been a quite difficult for me to get used to, being used to the hustle and bustle of life in a town/city. Especially when it comes to sourcing materials for work or even prices for materials can become quite infuriating.
However now, I wouldn’t give it up for the world.
Since living in the country I only have a handful of snakes. But I have our horse in the fields next to our cottage and I now have 3 chickens that give me fresh eggs every day.
Obviously I had to build them a special coop and run, not that they use the run as they are completely free range, and have many acres of fields that they make full use of. They spend hours digging and scratching in the horses muck piles eating bugs and worms, like any insectivorous birds should. They still get their grain, fresh vegetables and fruit so there’s no wonder their egg yolks are so yellow with all that animal protein being stuffed into them.
So due to enjoying building the coop I will be making others in different designs that will be for sale in the near future. So I will be adding another section to the site for coops, runs, hutches and other enclosures, for our less Exotic friends.
I have over the years been asked to build some amazing enclosures, some for some exceptionally famous people. Many have been great clients, but I have also spent countless hours designing, estimating and communicating with prospecting clients (all unpaid till signing of contract) to be let down at the last minute due to either logistic delivery costs (some are very large units) change in clients circumstance or the total cost is not reachable by the client.
I am not expensive but these custom made enclosures take many hours to design and price let alone to build. So I have decided to give a design service, Where for a small fee (starting from around £30.00, bear in mind your local Garage will charge anywhere from £40+per hour) I will design, write building/fixing/fitting/assembly instructions and give a cutting list of which you can take to a local timber yard or joinery shop to cut the materials, for you to build yourself. This can be very cost effective for many people and will also allow me to assist pet owners across the globe.
